I went out this morning to get some photos of birds. And I learned some things. More pictures after the break...

The first is that 70mm - 200mm * a 1.6 crop factor results in an effective range of 112mm - 320mm. If you want the bird in the picture to be very large, then you have to get rather close to them. Closer than they are comfortable with. The Egrets spooked readily. The ducks by the pond craved bread from humans and could care less about being aproached.
